Yes, for important agreements. Filosign can store encrypted copies and offer archival plans, but you should still keep your own proof packet for anything that might go to legal, finance, or an audit later.
Think of it like email: the provider keeps a copy, but you still save the contract PDF that matters.
When to use this

- Compliance wants a local archive on your drive or data room
- You are about to cancel a plan or let archival renewal lapse
- Counsel asked for "everything in one place" without app login access
How it works
Section titled “How it works”When the envelope is fully signed (or voided before completion), open the document and download the proof packet (ZIP). It includes:
- The signed document files
- A readable proof report (who signed, when, which fields were completed)
- A merged PDF if you want one file to share
Filosign keeps a fast copy for everyday access and backs up encrypted copies to long-term storage in parallel. Downloading a proof packet gives you a copy that does not depend on subscriptions, retention terms, or account access years later.
Example workflow
Section titled “Example workflow”A founder closes an investor SAFE. The same day, they download the proof packet ZIP to the company data room and email the proof report PDF to finance. Six months later, they still have the files even if nobody logs into Filosign.
What to watch out for
Section titled “What to watch out for”- Best time to download is as soon as the deal is done, while everyone still has access in the app.
- If you cancel your plan, you get a grace period to export important envelopes before long-term copies are scheduled for removal.
- Your own download stays with you even if archival renewal lapses.
How to download in the app
Section titled “How to download in the app”- Open the completed or voided envelope.
- Click the Package icon in the header for the full ZIP.
- Optionally download the proof report only (scroll icon) or document with proof appended (download icon).
