Void or change a sent envelope
Workspace owners and admins can void (recall) an envelope before everyone required has signed. Senders can too in many cases. You cannot void after the envelope is fully complete (or after your minimum signature rule is satisfied).
When to use this
Section titled “When to use this”- You sent to the wrong signer and they have not signed yet
- You need to cancel an in-progress agreement before it completes
- You want to attach, update, or cancel payout packets or gated files after send
- Your team needs to agree on a void or signer change before acting
How it works
Section titled “How it works”Voiding stops outstanding invites, marks the workflow as voided in your records, and still lets you download a proof packet showing what happened. Signatures that already occurred may still appear in the verification record. See Verification records.
Signer amendment: if a signer has not signed yet, owners and admins can replace them with someone else. New invites go out automatically. If they already signed, you need a new envelope.
After send, on eligible plans, you can often:
- Payout packets: attach, update, or cancel rules that have not executed yet
- Gated files: attach or cancel packets on Teams Pro before they unlock
| Role | Void / amend | Send envelopes |
|---|---|---|
| Owner, Admin | Yes | Yes |
| Sender | Send only; cannot override admin void rules | Yes |
| Viewer | No | No |
Example workflow
Section titled “Example workflow”An admin notices the wrong email on an NDA signer who has not opened the document yet. They open the document page, amend the roster to swap in the correct recipient, and coordinate with legal through Comments before anyone signs.
What to watch out for
Section titled “What to watch out for”- You cannot void after the envelope is fully complete.
- Filosign does not silently swap completed signatures.
- You cannot change payout terms after the first required signer signs, or after anyone has been paid.
- Treasury payouts still need your team wallet to approve funds.
How to govern envelopes in the app
Section titled “How to govern envelopes in the app”- Open the document page for the sent envelope.
- Use Void envelope to cancel before completion.
- Use signer amendment to replace someone who has not signed yet.
- Use Attach payout, Change payout amounts, or gated-file controls while rules are still eligible.
- Download a proof packet after void if you need a record of partial progress.
